Mark your calendar, the second half of the 2007 Northeast Movies In The Park Coming In September

The 1st half of the season was a hit and the turn-out was great!  The 2nd half is in September.  We are looking forward to the remaining 4 movie nights: September 11th (Bob Roberts), September 18th (HUD), September 25th (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore) and the special non-Tuesday night, family oriented, Saturday night movie, September 29th (Flubber) in conjunction with the 85th Anniversary, All-Class, Edison High School Reunion.

Your missin' out if you don't come early for the bands.  Alicia Corbett (9/11), Ouija Radio (9/18), Kruddler (9/25) and King Custom and the Cruisers (9/29).

Bookmark www.MoviesInThePark.info for information on the movies and the bands.

All the events will continue to be held on the section of the Edison Campus just south of Jackson Square Park in the basin.  It’s the SE corner of Quincy Street NE and 22nd Avenue NE.  From Central Avenue NE, walk two blocks west on 22nd Avenue NE to the event.  The movies start at dusk, but come early if you want to listen to the band.

If you haven't experienced the basin, it is a superb location for outdoor movies.  No matter where you sit, you have a great view.  The landscape is tiered and custom designed.  Of course, you are welcome to bring a chair or blanket if it makes you more comfortable.

Make sure you take a look at the picture gallery below.  Just click on the arrows on either side of the pictures and you can scroll through them.  The first picture in the photo gallery is a local kid that brought somethin' on the drums and turned out to be a nice, spontaneous preview to The Infestations on June 12th.   The rest of the pictures are from the three June events and we will post more between now and September.

On behalf of HNIA, The Movies In The Park Team, Northeast residents and movie goers, we would like to extend a very special thank you to Jim Lupient Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Infiniti .  We asked the Lupients if they would be willing to sponsor a movie this summer and they said, "Tell us more."  When we described Movies In The Park, we could see the smile in their eyes but we were still surprised when they said, "We will sponsor the season!"

It's no secret the Lupients are a generous family and we all know Jim Lupient will always have a soft spot in his heart for Northeast, Minneapolis. Nevertheless, their generosity chokes us up.  Jim Lupient is still a Northeaster - once a Northeaster - always a Northeaster!

We are extremely grateful to the Lupients for their generous support of the event and the community. The Lupients are part of the Northeast Minneapolis legend and are another reason why Northeast Minneapolis is a great place to live! Thank you to the Lupients for your over the top, world premiere sponsorship!

Thanks again to the Movies In The Park Team for all their hard work and financial contributions.  Thanks to the Eastside Food Co-op for donating all the food.  Thanks to Amy Fields for working the grill.  Vince Murray (Aardvark Records ) has supported these events for years!  He is a behind the scene guy and doesn't get credit for all the extra work he does like dropping off and picking up equipment and booking the bands and now he is running the projector too!  Thanks to Pat Dwyer (Grumpys ) for the posters.  Pat has quietly sponsored the posters for years!  Thanks to the neighbors that provided the grills and beverages and thanks to everybody that showed up and made it a fun event!

Thanks to the Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association (Kevin Reich - Project Director & Karen Peterson - Outreach Coordinator).  The best way to describe the significance of their input - we wouldn't be having this event without their vision, organization on on-going support.

While watching HNIA and the rest of the Movies In The Park Team interact throughout the event, it was clear this was not the first time they have worked together.  They did a great job!

If you missed the June movies and bands, don't fret, there are 4 more opportunities left in the season to see a movie.  MITP is a great excuse to find a sitter and go out for a date with your spouse or take a break from your studies, get some fresh air and watch a free movie.  Movies In The Park provides a unique opportunity to share an extraordinary and beautiful space throughout the summer.

For more information on the Movies and the Bands click on the 2007 Schedule link in the upper left hand corner of this page.

Movies In The Park draws viewers from all parts of the metro further enforcing what we always say, "Rather Than Spending All Your Time Driving To Northeast, Wouldn't It Just Be Easier To Move Here?"
