Live Northeast Presents Extreme Home Makeover: HNIA Working on 705 22nd. Ave.

July 13, 2007

This event marks another step forward for the entire community. Thanks to compassionate persistence, extensive cooperation, and some creative partnerships, a run-down property and chronic scene of dangerous activities (directly across the street from Edison) is being transformed into a beautiful, completely renovated home!

Kevin Reich, Project Director for HNIA has not only spearheaded this project, but also catalyzed support within the community and among policy makers. On this evening, a crew of workers assembled and pitched in to paint, scrape, and work on the exterior. Media coverage included local cable television and Fox-9 News. State Representative Diane Loeffler and Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller dropped by and went right to work. It was great to see Elizabeth Wielinski (Columbia Park Neighborhood President), PEN members including co-founders Jill Davis & Marcia Thomas, Amy Fields (General Manager Eastside Food Cooperative), Nicole Mundis (YMCA Director), Barbara Mundis (County Probation Officer - a key partner), Lois (Northeast Librarian), and the new Edison Principal with staff and students all in Edison T-shirts and hats. Neighbors from Windom, Audubon, Waite Park, Bottineau, Logan and Holland joined in! There were over 50 hard-working and caring volunteers throughout the weekend including prospective buyers.

This property represents a great opportunity for anyone looking for an affordable, quality home in a great location with wonderful neighbors. For more information, use the email link below the pictures.

Kevin Reich, asked that special thanks from the Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association be conveyed to all those that took time out of their busy schedule to improve the Edison Campus! Great Job! Thank you! It's easy to live in Northeast with neighbors like you!
